The Pelišor and the Foišor are two castles that the royal family built close to the Peleš and which make up a highly harmonious German style architectural complex. The Pelišor Castle was the summer residence of King Ferdinand, King Carol’s nephew, and his wife, Mary, and their family. Built between 1899 and 1903, the castle is less richly decorated than the Peleš. However, since on the outside it is made mostly of wood, the Pelišor calls to mind the style of the late Renaissance in ancient German burgs. The interior decorations are in the style of Art Deco, as requested by Queen Mary. A residence for the high state dignitaries under the communist regime, the castle is nowadays open to the public.
